What is the difference between a paramedical examination and a health questionnaire in a life insurance application?

A paramedical examination is an underwriting requirement of an insurance company for a fully underwritten life insurance policy. An insurance company requires a medical examination and a pharmaceutical background check by accessing personal health records from the Medical Information Bureau (MIB).

A health questionnaire is a series of questions asked by an insurance company to learn your pre-existing health conditions, determine your future health risks, and to understand your immediate family health history. A health questionnaire can be brief or detailed depending on how the insurance policy is being underwritten.

Personal health data from the Medical Information Bureau (MIB) can also be accessed when underwriting simplified issue insurance.
